The week of August 9th through the 21st Jacob bought and began testing of the arm(up/down) motor, the step-down voltage regulator, and the lithium-ion battery. The positive and negative leads of the battery were connected to the voltage regulator on the input side and the motor positive and negative leads were connected on the output side. The variable resistor at the output was used to step-down the voltage from 12V to the maximum 8.4V that the motor is rated for. A simple Arduino program was used to test the motors range of motion by sweeping the output values from 0 to 270 degrees. The video below shows the result of this testing as the motor sweeps the arm back and fourth from 0 to 270 degrees. The same process will be used to test each motor as it is purchase. The Arduino program used to test is linked to this post.
