Week 4, May 30th-June 5th

My goal this week was to finalize the hardware and software flowchart diagrams, engineering specifications, success criteria, and start a specifications table. These goals were completed and added into the design proposal tab. Neil and I met to discuss the design of the microphone stand and the possibility of a phone or computer app to control it. In order to complete these tasks, research was done on different types of servo motors for the stand as well as voltage and current ratings of the hardware devices. Batteries specifications were determined and different types of batteries were considered. Ultimately a rechargeable, lithium-ion battery seemed the best option for our needs. The motors chosen are high torque and high precision servo motors to best allow the user to make very precise adjustments to the microphone position. The Arduino Uno was chosen for the microcontroller used to run these motors as it can run up to 12 motors and has a built it Bluetooth module for RF serial communication. Each component detailed can function using a 12-20V battery and the combined current of the components is about 8.5A.
