Week 13: Sept 12th - Sept 18th

This week, Jacob began drawing and printing the remaining 3-D printed parts need to assemble the project. The CAD renderings of these parts are shown below.

In order, the parts are the vertical arm mount, the rotation motor and lazy Susan platform, and the tilt motor mount. Two of the three parts above were previously printed but due to measurement errors needed to be scrapped. The parts are in the process of being re-printed. The vertical arm mount attaches the vertical part of the arm to the motor and lazy-Susan parts, the rotation motor and lazy Susan platform hold the rotation motor and lazy Susan in place on the chassis, and the tilt motor mount holds the motor for the microphone tilt movement. Once these parts are printed, the entire project can be assembled and tested. Below, a picture of the rotation motor mount is shown with the motor in place.

This part attaches to the chassis via the notches on either side and then can be screwed in. This shall be positioned in the middle of the chassis and support the vertical arm. A lazy Susan, pictured below, will support the arm while the motor controls the rotation.

In the upcoming week, this part as well as the parts yet to be printed above will be assembled to complete the main physical assembly of the project.
